    Liquid Glucose 80% BP is a purified, concentrated aqueous solution of glucose (dextrose), typically containing 80% w/w of glucose and other related saccharides. It is a clear, colorless to pale yellow, viscous liquid with a sweet taste. Derived primarily from starch hydrolysis (usually corn or rice), it is widely used in food & beverage formulations as a sweetener, and stabilizing agent. Liquid glucose enhances the viscosity and mouthfeel of syrups, acts as a base for tonics and elixirs, and provides a source of energy in nutritional supplements.

    Specification for Liquid Glucose 80%

    • Description: Clear, viscous, colorless or slightly yellow liquid; sweet in taste.
    • Glucose Content: Not less than 80% w/w (expressed as D-glucose equivalent).
    • pH: Between 4.0 and 6.5.
    • Clarity and Color of Solution: Should remain clear and colorless.
    • Sulphated Ash: Not more than 0.1%.
    • Heavy Metals: Not more than 10 ppm.
    • Dextrin (qualitative test): Passes test (confirms presence and type of polysaccharides).
    • Microbial Contamination: Should comply with BP microbial limits for oral preparations.
    • Reducing Sugars (as Dextrose): Should comply with the stated range (usually 30%–45% depending on the grade).
